Yanhong Pan (Kevin) is in his final year of integrated master's in Chemical and Process Engineering. He is currently working on transfer learning, assessing the effectiveness of using Latent Variable Gaussian Process (LVGP) models for optimising reactions with data from related processes. Kevin is using data from a previous study by Dr Thomas Shaw and the Clayton Group, applying transfer learning to the real-world case of DEHiBA synthesis, a ligand that is key to the novel EURO-GANEX process for nuclear fuel reprocessing. To gain more insights into the underlying similarities between different pathways to DEHiBA, bringing more understanding towards how to make DEHiBA sustainably and cheaply.
