Jesyka Dunn
PhD Student
University of Leeds
Jesyka graduated from Cardiff University in 2026 with an MChem degree in Chemistry with a Year in Industry. During her industrial placement at Concept Life Sciences, she investigated the sustainable and process-friendly synthesis of an active pharmaceutical ingredient used in the treatment of psoriasis. In her final year at Cardiff University, Jesyka undertook a medicinal chemistry research project under the supervision of Dr Michaela Serpi, focusing on the synthesis of nucleotide prodrugs for antiviral applications.
Jesyka is now undertaking her PhD at the University of Leeds, under the supervision of Prof Richard Bourne, Prof Thomas Chamberlain, Dr Gilian Thomas and Dr Adam Clayton. Her research forms part of the Reconfigurable, Robotic & Responsive Reactors for Processes through Intensified Development (R4PID) programme, where she is developing automated, digitally enabled and intensified technologies to support faster and more sustainable pharmaceutical process development and manufacturing.
